  • Responsibilities

    The Content & Communications Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development of content, including standards and guidelines, for externally and internally-facing systems, projects and campaigns, including the Essex website copy, blog, email and other promotional campaigns, and the Essex intranet. He/she will assist with supporting the external voice of Essex and all keyword strategies and will collaborate with other Marketing team members to develop content strategies, calendars and material. He/she will support and act as an administrator to the company intranet, assisting with departmental content development, posting and maintenance.

     

    This position is also responsible for assisting with the development of communications that support, inform and engage our employees and other stakeholders. He/she will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other members of Marketing, Operational Services, Legal, HR, Operations, and Senior Management.

     

    Essential job functions include the following:

    • Internal Communications
      • Assist with the development and execution of internal communications strategy to support Company initiatives
      • Assist with managing the internal communications workflow
      • Develop content for company intranet, including weekly news and departmental content
      • Help administer and maintain the company intranet
      • Manage content calendar, develop weekly agenda and editing assistance for related content for weekly associate all-hands meetings
      • Develop and execute communications plans for internal stakeholders
      • Provide editing assistance as needed
      • Support video production, including script editing
      • Measure effectiveness of internal communication channels and provide recommendations for improvement
    • Internal Content
      • Participate in the initiative to improve/revamp the Essex intranet
      • Help develop best practices for departmental content development, posting and maintenance
      • Administer and maintain the intranet on an ongoing basis
    • Resident communications
      • Assist with the execution of communications plans for resident-facing initiatives
      • Assist with the execution of corporate messaging guidelines and standards for resident letters
      • Help manage resident lists from property management systems
      • Assist with resident crisis communications as needed
    • External content
      • Adopt and maintain content standards and guidelines for externally facing systems and campaigns, including the Essex website
      • Manage market research projects as needed
      • Develop keyword strategies
      • Collaborate with other Marketing team members to develop content strategies, calendars and material
      • Develop and edit copy
    • Manage vendors and contractors as needed
    • Other duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor

     

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent.
    • 2+ years’ experience in a similar or related role
    • Interest/experience in real estate, architecture, or design
    • Exceptional writing and editing skills
    • Strong presentation, written and verbal communications skills
    • Strong organizational and analytical skills
    • Solid command of Microsoft Office Suite
    • Attention to detail
    • Able to convey clear concepts within tight deadlines
    • Able to manage concurrent projects from conception through completion
    • Experience with Google Analytics
    • Basic HTML and image processing skills
    • Experience with a web Content Management System
    • Team player and collaborator, with a belief in the importance of transparency and communication
    • Can-do attitude. Ability to pivot as needed
    • Takes ownership and initiative to resolve issues
    • Professional demeanor, positive approach, sense of humor

    Job Requirements

    A valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance is required.
