The Analyst, Sourcing Operations is responsible for assisting the Sourcing & Procurement team with the data analysis and reporting needed to accomplish team goals. The Analyst will manage the internal Spend Cube/Spend analysis and support sourcing events by providing relevant reporting.  The analyst will gain familiarity with all Essex spend and strategic sourcing processes.


Key responsibilities include:



  • Assists in the development of procurement & sourcing business cases
  • Assists in strategic sourcing activities to drive enterprise cost savings


  • Manages, and regularly refreshes, Spend Cube by downloading applicable data and cleaning/categorizing suppliers
    • Develops reports and communicates updates
    • Highlights potential categories/savings opportunities from what is seen in the data
    • Works with Procurement Operations to develop reports to support Program compliance and overall spend governance
  • Supports Strategic Sourcing events
    • Assists in developing Current State analysis and development of category baselines
    • Converts category baselines into Request for Proposals
    • Conducts supplier/market research
    • Analyzes supplier proposals and builds reports; Works with suppliers to clarify proposals
    • Prepares team with analysis for supplier negotiations
    • Assesses final supplier proposals
  • Works with team to maintain internal tools (contract database, sourcing calendar, policies, etc.)
  • Supports team with as-needed reporting and data extraction


  • Works with internal departments to provide requested analysis and/or seek information required for analysis
  • Works with Communities to identify and document requirements, validate baselines, and provide additional reporting


• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university (preferably in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Management);
• Minimum 1-2 years experience in data analytics, procurement, REIT operations, or consulting;
• Ability to work across an enterprise and service internal clients
• Strong analytical skills and technical knowledge;
• Able to work in a professional, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
• Interest in learning internal, technical applications
• Highly flexible and adaptable;
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks;
• Technical aptitude;

Job Requirements

Occasional travel to Properties/Communities (west coast)

A valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance is required.
